Psychiatric medication management refers to prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting mental health medications. Our goal is to optimize the effectiveness of medications while minimizing side effects and ensuring our patient’s overall well-being. We provide medication management services for both children and adults.
The process begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, where your psychiatrist assesses your symptoms, medical history, and specific needs. Medication may or may not be recommend as part of the developed treatment plan; a prescription for medication is not guaranteed. If/when medications are prescribed, ongoing monitoring and follow-up appointments are essential to closely monitor response to the medication(s), assess effectiveness, side effects, and any necessary adjustments. The frequency of follow-up appointments may vary.
Psychiatric medication management may be suitable for individuals who have been diagnosed with a mental health disorder and experience significant symptoms and other forms of treatment have not provided substantial improvement. Some of the most common psychiatric medications prescribed include antidepressants, mood stabilizers, and stimulants.
Please note that while virtual/telehealth medication management services are common, certain medications (like controlled substances) require in-person evaluation.
