Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Marissa Kushner is a licensed psychologist who provides individual therapy (child, adolescent, and young adult), behavioral parent training, and comprehensive assessments. She has expertise in the application of cognitive-behavioral and behavioral approaches to address anxiety, ADHD, disruptive behavior problems, mood disorders, and interpersonal difficulties. Dr. Kushner offers neurodevelopmental and psychoeducational evaluations for children, adolescents, and adults suspected of having a learning disability or giftedness, executive functioning difficulties (e.g., ADHD), or autism spectrum disorder. Dr. Kushner also has significant experience in the area of Pediatric Psychology. Through her training at Children’s National Medical Center and Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, Dr. Kushner provided evaluations and psychotherapy to diverse populations, including children and adolescents coping with obesity, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and feeding difficulties. Dr. Kushner integrates principles from evidence-based practices to best support the needs of each client. She collaborates with children and their families to identify and work toward meaningful goals that promote their physical and emotional health.

Dr. Kushner grew up in Southwest Florida. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Emory University and earned her Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Clinical Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. In 2016, Dr. Kushner was happy to return home to Southwest Florida, where she has worked in private practice for the last eight years. In her free time, Dr. Kushner enjoys spending time with her husband, two young children, and golden doodle.
