Dr. Amanda McDonald is an osteopathic physician specializing in general psychiatry and addiction psychiatry. She specializes in treating individuals age 16+ with mood and depressive disorders, anxiety and trauma disorders, eating disorders, insomnia and other sleep-related disorders, and adult ADHD.

After graduating from Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. McDonald completed her residency training in general psychiatry at the University of Louisville School of Medicine, where she received the program’s Outpatient Psychiatry Award in recognition of her outstanding patient care. She has broad experience and has worked in a variety of settings, including psychiatric ER, inpatient hospitals, detox/residential recovery units, partial hospitalization programs, outpatient clinics, and assisted living facilities. Dr. McDonald received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as psychodynamic psychotherapy and is skilled in delivering brief therapeutic interventions.

Dr. McDonald approaches each patient as an individual and works with each patient to develop a plan for treatment. She believes in educating and empowering patients to be active in maintaining their own health.

When Dr. McDonald is not in clinic, she enjoys travel, running, tennis, reading, and spending time with her dogs.

Note: While Dr. McDonald primarily conducts virtual telemedicine appointments, certain medications may require an in-person evaluation.
