Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Strom has worked with individuals across ages, racial backgrounds, socioeconomic status, and mental health concerns but specializes in working with adults with PTSD using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). She is also experienced in treating adults who suffer from depressive and anxiety disorders, stress, borderline personality disorder, sleep problems, emotional dysregulation, and physical health-related problems like chronic pain. She primarily uses third-wave Cognitive Behavioral Therapies (CBT) such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and integrates Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, coping skills training, traditional CBT techniques, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) into her work. She has also provided other treatments for specific problems like Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction, CBT for insomnia, CBT for chronic pain, SAMHSA’s anger management, and smoking cessation.

Dr. Strom was born and raised outside of Seattle, WA before she completed her Bachelors degree in Psychology, Mathematics, and Philosophy at Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. She first came to Florida for her graduate training at Florida Institute of Technology (FIT), where she earned her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Integrated Behavioral Healthcare. During her graduate training, she primarily treated adults who suffered from PTSD. She saw women who suffered sexual assault and domestic violence at the South Brevard Women’s Center in Melbourne, FL, and veterans who suffered various military related traumas at the Veteran’s Administration Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Clermont, FL. To complete her graduate training, Dr. Strom returned to Seattle to work in a primary care medical office, practicing under an integrated behavioral health model for over two years before moving back to Florida to work at GSBH.

Outside of her professional work, Dr. Strom enjoys cooking, baking, sewing and other crafts, exploring new restaurants and local activities, practicing yoga, traveling when possible, and spending time with her dog and partner.
